Ya’aleh V’yavo

Text: Jewish Festival liturgy

with Kol Simkha, the Temple Israel of New Rochelle Youth Choir

I always find it easier to write for others than writing for myself. When Marcy Kadin, a cantorial student at Hebrew Union College, was working on a practicum on the Festivals, I asked if I could write her a setting from the T’fillah. What resulted was this piece, written in the proper Nusakh HaT’fillah for the festivals.

Our God and God of our ancestors, may there rise up and come and be remembered our recollection and the recollection of all Your people the House of Israel, before You, for goodness, favor, kindness, compassion, life and peace on this day of: the Festival of Matzot (Pesakh). Remember us Adonai our God, on this day for goodness, (Amen) bestow blessing on us on this day, (Amen) and deliver us to life on this day. (Amen)
